baptism

with my baptism! I am now officially part of a church!

will still be taking classes till my confirmation on Nov. 24. I’m really happy to have found my “home church”.

I am here to stay.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” –1 Corinthians 12:13

thankful friday

Its Friday! Other than being the start of the weekend, I am listing out my blessings.

To further practice my positive mindset.

Thus, thankful Friday.

thankful friday

1.) I am thankful for my newly straightened thoracic spine, From the annual physical examination result I got this week, My thoracic dextroscoliosis (from the past year’s result) is gone. Less back pain for me. I will just have to maintain the spine. Also, thank you to my very patient coaches, who patiently taught me how to deadlift properly!  And for my friendly gym friends, they really made me feel at ease.

2.) I will be baptized this Sunday! Excited to be officially part of my church. Also excited to wear the white ‘baptismal dress’ Kei gave me.

3.) Excited to meet my bestfriend tomorrow!

4.) For encouragement from my Care Group sisters and my Sponsors. Plus one of my devotions for this week. 1Peter 1:16 (In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.) Really apt, for the time being.

5.) For the my new assignment.

God is Good all the time.

core differences

last week, while taking my morning cup when my best friend sent me our (daily) morning devotion.

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. -Proverbs 16:8

Followed with a quote that goes: A man is never as good as he says he is, or as bad as others say he is. If people say something bad about you, judge you as if they know you, don’t get affected. just think… Dogs don’t bark if they know the person.

That had my mouth hanging open. How did my best friend know what I was thinking about? I quickly told her my thoughts and she answered I was thinking about those too. Wow. Even when we are miles apart we still have the “connection”. We go through the same experiences in life together, (not physically together) usually in a same circumstance/phase only with different participants/place/instances. we also have sort of the same outlook on problems and this has been going on since we were kids!  We do however have our own individual differences, preferences and demeanor too, but we blend well.

I realized people are like coffee, some are sweet, dark, mild, strong, light, bitter, etc. All attributed to how they are formed.

Lets use a cup of espresso as example. A shot of espresso is comprised of layers.

Pick out your beans.  Then we make the brew, time the shot and pour the coffee. It then separates to 3 layers. (from the top)

1. “crema” that fine-foam of oils containing the coffee’s best flavors and aromatic properties.

2.  “body” the middle part also the mouth fill of the shot.

3.  “core” or “heart” of the coffee. This is the deep brown bottom layer, which dictates the bitterness of the shot,

With people, it is composed of much more layers. People ‘s attitudes are formed by experiences, pressures, values, principles, standards, internal and external factors which are all unique, and different from others. Which is actually a good thing as we are all individuals. But there are times clashes occur. Maybe because of…

1. “Appearance” that outer body people look at, nationality, how you present yourself…etc.

2. “Mindset” how you think, biases, culture.

3. “Heart” feelings and attitude.

4. “Values” principles, internalized beliefs.

5. “Core” experiences that molded you into what you are and what you believe in.

The sum of the above dictates what kind of person a person is.

Maybe this explains why some people are good to be around with, and some to stay away from.

What is the mix of your brew?

“If the world hates you, remember that the world hated me first. If you belonged to the world, then the world would love you like it loves its own people. But I have chosen you out of the world. So you don’t belong to the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the lesson I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If people did wrong to me, then they will do wrong to you too. And if people obeyed my teaching, then they will obey yours too.”  -John15:18-20

gentle cure

I want to have better skin.  But I have this fear that my skin will breakout (that usually happens) when I use a new product.

It may be a new soap, shampoo, conditioner, facial wash. when my skin doesn’t like it, hello zits.  Due to this extremely embarrassing skin situation I am in, I am wary of anything that touches my face. I don’t use hair conditioner (let the hair be dry as long as my skin is clear, people will not notice!). I don’t use blush and foundation, I only do my eyes and lips (If I really need to use makeup that day). Normally, I leave my face bare, and use only sunblock and hypoallergenic  baby powder.

Then I still have to contend with the unsightly brown spots (from healed acne), some red patches (still acne, just newly healed), my forever there freckles, some blackheads (on the nose), and pimples (small bumps). Plus the oily skin. At times I think why my genes are conspiring against me.

A poster I saw at the Beauty bar announced that Cure Natural Aqua Gel (that was so popular in Japan) is now available here in Manila. I was like, what is it? I was only mild curious. My skin is not exactly up for experimentation as I am having a break-out(that time). But with the prodding of Kei, I went inside and reached for a tester.

That moment was exactly two months ago.

Cure Exfoliating Gel

Cure Exfoliating Gel

Cure Natural Aqua Gel – a skincare with activated hydrogen water made for removal of dead skin cells. Cure Natural Aqua Gel is a gentle and natural exfoliating gel that removes dead skin effectively without causing undue stress to the skin. Unlike chemical peels which use strong acid, Cure is very gentle on the skin and only removes the unwanted dead skin. It does not dry or thin your skin which cause your skin to be vulnerable to sunlight.

Hmm… not bad. I am now curious. with the permission and assistance of a sales lady, I tried a dollop of cure on my hands. It feels cold and a few seconds later, I have small white balls of dead skin cells in my hands and it doesn’t hurt at all! My skin felt really soft! I then asked a lot of questions to the sales lady. like, is this organic? safe for sensitive skin? what is this made of? do many people buy?

So in answer, the sales lady showed me the ingredients list.

Ingredients: 90% revitalized hydrogen water and natural plant extracts of aloe vera, gingko and rosemary. No preservatives, fragrance, artificial coloring and alcohol.

And assured me that a lot of people brought the product and only two are left for sale.  Woah! I wasted no time in grabbing one bottle and heading to the cashier.

Do they live up to the hype?

I was so glad to have purchased this! I have been using this twice a week, for two months now, and I can say my skin condition really improved. my brown spots have lightened, breakouts have been in control (not really gone but less embarrassing fewer/smaller than before, hooray!).  Cure helps in brightening and softening the skin, by removing the dead skin cells and allowing the fast absorption of serums, masks, acne creams etc. The red spots however are stubborn. they still stay, but it is very very slowly lightening.

The packaging is also utilitarian as it is made of transparent plastic (no fear of dropping the bottle, can see how much product left), each bottle comes with a plastic lock (preventing spillage).

How to use?

  • Wash your face with cleanser and dry well.
  • Pump a small amount of Cure to be applied on the desired area. Leave it on skin for a few seconds to react with the dead skin cells.
  • Gentle massage in a circular motion for 30 sec.-1 min. The gel will turn into milky liquid and white particles of dead skin cells can be seen as they are lift off the skin.
  • Rinse well with water. Your skin  is now ready for moisturizing.

*Price? I got this for Php1500  (250ml bottle) at Beauty Bar

*All my reviews, opinions, and other stuff expressed here are my own and based on my own experience with the product. This is not a sponsored post, I paid for this (from) my own pocket.

self help reading

I am on a strict no spending season right now. But, I am happy.

This past weekend Kei and I went to the MIBF (Manila International Book Fair at MOA-SMX) to buy some books and meet up our church friends. (Who married and moved to a different city. So they moved to a different church and we seldom see them.)  Actually, they are mentoring us on how to save up for our future. To sum it all up. I didn’t get a lot of books, No shopping, no  gourmet food but Kei and I are now a bit more prepared for the future. We can adjust, after all its for our own good.

We both got two books each from the book fair. But, I have four books as of the moment. The first two (from left) are the ones I got from the MIBF,  the third one was lent to me by my office mate, and the last is a devotional given to me as an early Christmas present from one of my care group sisters.

I am currently reading, The prayer of Revenge by Doug Schmidt. I got it from OMF literature for 110php -20% MIBF discount= 88php  Its a really good book on a very tough topic. I am sharing this with my mum, even though she is not a christian, she thinks its a good read. (hopefully in God’s time my mum will be a christian)

Haven’t read the others yet, although I read a few pages from Think Positive Thoughts Everyday.

My baptismal is also just a few weeks away! I am really excited!

My mornings are also something I look forward to. My best friend sends me a bible verse to start my day. And I am happy to report that I have been doing my quiet time without fail for the past week! I really want to keep this up.

A blessed week to everyone!

balai indang

Last Aug 25, 2013 my fellowship went to Balai Indang. I was so glad to get away from work and home stress!

After all the stormy days, work issues, I want a piece of quiet.

I liked the place a lot. Feels homey and there were a lot of greenery to soothe tired eyes. I also loved their whimsical decor and the mismatched chairs added to the old world charm.

Inside the Balai are more interesting stuff!

there are old clocks, Thai figures, Chinese vases, a daybed, toy boat, and lots of stuff loaded with character.

After a bit of milling around, We had lunch. The lunch was so good! I didn’t even know I was already eating vegetable omelette! I dont have any photos, because I was hungry and ate everything right away we were pressed for time!  We then had games then proceeded to caregroup bible study and a praise and worship session.

Along the way to the worship session, I spotted this.

I then, promptly rejoined the others for our next activities. Sorry for the lack of photos. Its been a blur of activities for me that I didn’t get the chance to take many photos, besides, I went there for quiet time and worship, so for now, I leave you with the colorful flowers found at Balai Indang.
