Cure for the blues: Bunny Baker Café and cake studio

We had a really bad week. How bad? Kei got mugged on his way to work. I have a nitpicking client that seems to want more and more freebies. Our weekend plans were cancelled, the red gown I had made turned out to be blue. To top it all off the rain has to pour.

Cue music: Why does it always rain on me? by Travis that would be my anthem for 2014.

But we got an invite from our friends (Kenzei and Aila) café and cake studio soft opening. We had that going for us which is nice.

So we braved the drizzly morning to be greeted by this.

cuteness!

cheery cute!

We are welcomed and seated on really cute pink bunny chairs! That was designed and customized specially for bunny baker! Their interiors is really cheerful, cozy and very well thought of, I really liked the stars on the ceiling. It reminds me of glow in the dark stickers.

Upon closer look on their display, they have different flavors of really cute cupcakes and gelato!

But not to forget, the Bunny baker is well-known for their very detailed and whimsical fondant cake creations.

kids cakes

Those cakes are created by the (bunny baker owners) husband and wife team, Aila (wife) doing the cakes and Kenzei (husband) in charge of sculpting the fondant. What started out as a hobby, and then turned into a home operation is now a cake shop. They also do wedding cakes, cupcakes, macarons and set-up for events.

See the level of detail on this pink Chinese lion fondant cake?

Awesome right?

While I was busy taking pictures, Kei took the liberty of ordering a light lunch. We got creamy pesto pasta, spam fries and ceasar salad. For drinks we have pink lemonade.

We love the creamy pesto and fought for the last piece of spam fries! It’s good.

For dessert I got a royal blush cupcake (red velvet with nutella frosting) and Kei got a scoop of okinawa (milk tea flavored) gelato.

Despite the continuous rain outside, we left the place feeling brighter.

Thanks for having us over Kenzei & Aila! We will be back soon!

been stalking

I have been stalking a dress.

store

Plains and Prints Robinsons Manila

That dress! The one Anne Curtis is wearing. I saw that huge poster around the last few days of November.

Asked for the said dress. It was still unavailable.

So, I bide my time waiting for the dress… went to different malls to look for it. Nothing.

Kei suggested we try looking at Shangri-la Mall. (this mall seems to have most of the stuff we are looking for) So we went.

We learned that the dress I want is is named Tokushima, from the Modern Metropolis collection. A limited edition and is already sold out.

So with no Tokushima dress on sight I looked for the other dresses from their Modern Metropolis collection. Two caught my eye. The Johannesburg and Moscow.

Tried them on and got the Johannesburg, as Kei likes it better than the other.

So, off I went, happy to get a dress. But I still wanted to see and try on the Tokushima.

Not one to give up, I tried calling all the branches of their store to look for the coveted dress. Again I was told that it is a limited edition, and apparently they made 50pcs for their preview, and another 50 was distributed to the other stores. Only 100 dresses are made. Tokushima was only made in sizes s, and xs.

My chances are slim. Only one Tokushima dress is left. In xs (my size!) and it is reserved.

Arrrggghhhh! Oh well, but still hopeful …we left our number. In case the one who reserved it did not get the dress.

After a day we got a call from Plains and Prints Greenbelt. It is now reserved to me!

Along with Kei we went to get the Tokushima.  Once in my hands I was a bit surprised that the Tokushima is not white but a pale shade of lilac grey. (was fooled by the posters!) But I like lilac. So it is not a problem for me. I went on to fit the dress and it did fit nicely.

The attendants also wanted me to try on their Madrid dress.

Madrid was the one they kept recommending to me when they learned that I was looking for the Tokushima. I liked the color of madrid but it looks poofy on me. When I tried it on, I look shorter than the usual so, even if its pretty, its a no for me.

I got the Tokushima. Finally.

I got two dresses. The Johannesburg from Shangrila in the medium sized orange box with three ponds freebies inside! And the Tokushima from Greenbelt in the small green box.

a girly discovery: DollyWink falsies -Updated

I used to wear falsies every weekend.

It was an obsession. Natural type, cross type, edgy type, etc… name it I hoard them. I usually get them from the face shop or etude house.

Like magic, they make my small eyes look bigger!

After a 3 year phase of wearing falsies. I stopped, they tend to be quite heavy and sometimes itchy too. Falsies are now reserved for special events.  So now that I am planning for my Pre-nup pictorial… it qualifies as extra special occasion right?

I wanted something better than my usual lashes. I want DollyWink falsies.

I have seen the product long ago in the Japanese magazine Popteen and reading about it in different blogs. I remember being very interested about it because they all gave good reviews about it (not shiny, lightweight, different lengths), but since it is only sold in Japan, I just settled for what was locally available. Not anymore.

I discovered that DollyWink can now be found in the Philippines! I quickly hurried over to SM Watsons to check. Yes they have it! but alas, the No. 2 Sweet Girly style I like was out of stock. Being persistent, I went to look for their distributor. Off I go to Yhansy store and found it easily.

So, I went to look for my DollyWink here. Inside this accessories store was lash/japanese cosmetics heaven! A really nice discovery!

a lot of

Japanese cosmetics galore!

The assortment of DollyWink falsies to choose from!

wow

So many to choose from!

Easily found the one I am looking for. The kind shopkeeper also informed that indeed, the one I am looking for is one of their bestsellers that tends to go out of stock quickly. Good thing I went to look for their store! I must say luck is on my side as they have the limited edition DollyWink falsies! This means I get 3 pairs of lashes that the usual two pairs, for the same price! *look at the displayed falsies, the ones with the neon pink label are the limited editions like the one I picked.

Honestly wanted to get No 2, and No. 11 but since I already got the limited edition that consists of three pairs, I just brought one. Will surely be back to get more but for now, I am contented with this.

To give you an idea, here is the different styles of DollyWink. This is the regular packaging 2 pairs on each pack.

red alert

I decided to go with red. The red gown I mean.

Beautiful, eye catching, statement color.

Paid for it in half and will pay for the other half once the gown is done. Excited to see/wear it since they promised to add some beading detail to its shoulder area. I just love shiny stuff!

And December, we have to talk, you can’t just sneak up on me like this. I am not yet ready.

I cannot stress that enough!

See, I haven’t even started shopping, I cant seem to wrap my head on how I will go about the get together with the family, the yearly meet up with the childhood friends, eating up a riot with my favorite foodie/s, my sister’s birthday, at least get something seriously done for our big day. Calling up the venue to ask for permits for a prenup shoot…. I am rambling. Sorry.

I am not prepared at all.

How did planning go from my forte to my weakness?
