how to train your (pop) drogon?

For my pop Friday, I finally got my Daenerys and Drogon pop ride!

*After patiently waiting for a month-it was a pre-order. This is my first ever pop ride and I am happy with it.

finally home

finally home

While I was so excited for my new pop, the said pop (design) has quite a lot of issues.

popped out of the box!

popped out of the box! – you can see that my drogon’s head tends to slump. thankfully we can fix it.

Among the lot we have seen, there seems to be hairline bleed (for Daenerys) and unpainted (Drogon) teeth while others looked sloppy. Most of the boxes are also damaged. We just tried to pick the best box and paint job we can find.

not a 10/10 condition but this was the best box we could get.

not a 10/10 condition but this was the best we could get. -we did not have any of this edition.

Once opened, my pop seems to be ok except for a slight problem, Drogon’s head tends to slump.

Drogon is supposed to be supported by its wings and tail, to lift its head properly. My Drogon’s wings seems to have flopped thus causing the snout to touch the floor. To be fair the head of the pop is heavy. So I think this is not a sculpt problem but due to the nature of the vinyl itself.

All tied up! Chin up Drogon!

All tied up! Chin up Drogon!

To fix it, I just tied Drogon’s wings together to “teach” the vinyl to hold.

the curls are lovely, the hairline bleed and discoloration is not.

Looking at Daenerys, the curls on her hair are absolutely pretty! Nice sculpt Funko Pop!

bye for now

not bad for my first pop ride

While this is not the best pop I have, I am still happy to add this in my GOT pop collection.

That is it for today. Till the next pop Friday!

fancy strings and genius laundry stuff

Who could have thought there will come a time that I will get excited getting a new sampayan and laundry stuff?!

I am getting to old auntie level real fast.

Because I am seriously happy and excited about my new sampayan and sipit! A huge thank you to Kei for installing the fancy sampayan! woot!

*sampayan = clothesline, sipit = clothespin.

home improvement for the rainy days

our tiny home improvement for the rainy days

Lately, I cannot do my laundry because I cannot dry the laundry! The rain is messing up my weekly chore schedule. Also making the daily commute back home a real pain. The rain also killed off my tomato plant. Making me hate it even more.

So, these days we dry our clothes indoors – mainly in the living room. Thankfully we have a small aluminum clothes rack to serve as our indoor clothesline. But I dislike doing that because it cramps up our space and it looks like we are having some kind of garage sale inside the house. Not to mention having the clothes so close to each other, it dries up a lot slower. Making it prone to have that damp smell.

That being said, Here is my solution to the damp problem: I mix in a bit of white vinegar with my laundry to counter the musty smell. *life hack* & also use a fabric conditioner.

Even with a sunny weather there is still a chance of my clothes sliding and clumping together on the clothesline. It is another pet peeve of mine.

This regular nylon string sampayan (clothesline) has to go. It has served us well for the past 6 months. -Due to the weight of some of our clothes(ie pants), all of the other clothes usually bunches up in the middle. Making laundry drying time uneven and longer. Some dries faster than the others and some that got clumped together in the middle stay damp for longer.  That we end up pinning all the hangers to the clothesline. We had a lot of other issues with this too. -broken pegs and sometimes laundry knocked down to the floor due to strong winds.

We will still use this for another purpose.

We will still use this for another purpose.

I like my clothes evenly spaced apart for maximum airflow. That means a faster drying time.

So imagine my smile when I found this at Daiso last Saturday. It was an automatic buy! It is a nylon clothesline with spacers to accommodate the hanger/s securely and evenly! No more sliding and clumping together of wet clothes, plus I did not have to pin every hanger on the clothesline! I need not worry about strong winds knocking off my hanger and laundry down!

Leave it to the Japanese to think of weirdly useful everyday stuff like these. Genius!

Say hello to fancy sampayan! (clothesline)

Say hello to our fancy sampayan! (clothesline) -this was found at Daiso: 5meters for 88php

We also went to check out the new Miniso store and ended up getting new clothespins to add to our existing clothespins. We got it for 99php. Honestly, we have a lot of wooden clothespins at home, I just got the new clothespins for the hanging basket it has. Plus the color is nice. That has to count right?!

mini

The color is really pretty! I also like the hanging basket!

So that is our tiny home improvement for the rainy days.

As for our standard laundry stuff: we use these nifty things to make our laundry workload easier. Here are the hangers we use daily.

hangers

On the left are the ones we use for our denim pants, to the right are the ones for shirts.

This is our collapsible drying hanger that is massive. (Sometimes I even hang my cotton shorts here.)

mega

This is my lifesaver when I really need to dry our clothes indoors.

The green hangers above and the collapsible hangers are both of the same brand – JIGO. That was the brand my mum uses. It is sturdy, because it is made from quality plastic that makes it resistant to breaking.  We got the above items from the almighty Divisoria.

I also love these expanding hangers that we got for drying our bath towels.

pull and expand!

Last but not the least are the laundry mesh bags for the small items. Just toss them in the bag and zip. toss in the washing and no more looking for the missing pair of socks! I also got the circular bags for washing bras so that the pads will not get dented.

The expanding hangers and mesh bags are both from Daiso.

So that concludes my laundry stuff.

pop them out

I have to show you our little Ant Man! *Kei likes the Ant Man.*

Oh hello there!

Oh hello there!

That is our little Ant Man, scaling the apples. It is actually a pop keychain.

We took out the keyring...et viola! A tiny Ant Man!

We popped out the keyring…et viola! A tiny Ant Man!

There is a even smaller version of AntMan that was a exclusive pop but we did not get that because it is: one expensive-because its exclusive, and two it is sure hard to hunt it down, three- being that small, it would be hard to see its details clearly so we opted for the keychain.

we did not bother looking for this one. -photo from the internet

On to regular pops… we have two new additions to our pop collection!

While on a leave Kei brought a GOT pop of Jaime Lannister with the golden hand. Plus one (regular sized) Ant Man pop!

Additions to the collection!

Additions to the collection!

We got them for a very low price of less than 500php! Due to the poor condition of the box, as well as the fact that the shop owner is selling the pops for clearance. Since we are out of the box collectors, why not?!

Both pops look good and with a lot of details too! The gold hand of Jaime Lannister has decorative sculpt, while the Ant Man has a detailed sculpt and meticulous paint work.

So, we now have a small (keychain) Ant Man, a regular sized Ant Man pop, next to hunt is the giant Ant Man! And maybe we can add a Yellow Jacket – the details of that pop is awesome!

And finally after more than a month of waiting, we got a message that our Daenerys and Drogon is ready for pick up!

It’s off to Greenhills for the weekend! Woot!

Till the next Pop Friday!

acquired tea

While I am not a huge tea drinker, I do enjoy having a cup of tea from time to time.

I enjoy it more as a dessert or as a scent!

green tea (matcha) -photo from the internet

I am particularly enjoying the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea scent spray that was given to me as a gift. It has a crisp, clean scent that is fresh and soothing.

Photo taken the day I got the bottle. – I am halfway through it right now. If only the scent stays for longer.

On “eating” tea – I have a particular favorite.  Matcha – the ground green tea powder.

I had it as a hot/cold drinks, ice cream and the numerous KitKats I used to get as a pasalubong (souvenir) whenever someone goes to japan. I was just drawn to the color of it and the uniqueness. In time I have grown to like it enough to get me to “hunt” for matcha. It is an acquired taste.

Later on Matcha KitKat can be found in most supermarkets here (in the Philippines). That made me happy and my personal rule is if can find it in the supermarket, one or more is sure to end up in my cart. *Its usually more than one and I also get the dark KitKats, to stock up at home.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this at a store near our place. -I am not exactly sure if this is new or limited time only (I haven’t seen it at the place where I do my groceries)…but I am happy to see them!

happy to have found these!

happy to have found these!

We now have Matcha KitKat ice cream (locally)! That is kind of like a 3 in 1 of my favorite sweets. -I like the taste of this ice cream but I find that it melts quickly.

Nice and sweet! -But in true matcha style; not overtly so. Kudos to Nestle Philippines for making matcha available locally!

pigeon army

Sharing with you a very common sighting at our home.

the pigeon company

the morning group of the pigeon army in our neighbor’s roof

Those are some of the pigeons that regularly visits our place. We are now at peace with them -because they already know that our patio is not for (dive bombing) pooping. However they still nibble on our plants once in a while. Sometimes they also fly real close to our windows and even hang out on top of the air conditioning unit making those loud flapping noises and sometimes scratching (sounds by moving) their talons on the thin steel surface. All that is now normal to us.

It has been months since we moved in, I find it funny that before I used to dislike the pigeons. Now, I look for them and can sort of distinguish one from the other and the group (they have a morning and afternoon group) they belong with.

Sometimes they do some weird antics that includes lying down on the roof, flying from one roof to another then purposely “pushing” another pigeon to fly with them. Making a pigeon totem pole-then they fall and try doing it all over again. *the highest I saw was 4 pigeons stacked together then they toppled over. They can be awkward, amusing and hilarious.

And we have grown to accept and love them. -This actually happened for a few weeks.

  • Update: But unfortunately, the pigeons are back to their disruptive, inquisitive nature that we had no option than to block them out with plastic mesh.

can we talk about moisturizer?

I have given up on moisturizers and skincare stuff for a year now.

My skin condition stayed the same. Meaning: I still have the oily/sensitive skin and I still get pimples from time to time. My freckles are still there, maybe darkened up a bit. *It has been a while since I last used sunblock!

However the dermatologist approved/made toners and soap, stayed in my daily routine. No change on those.

But lately, I got to thinking that I cannot be too lazy for skincare anymore since I am not getting any younger and if I wanted to age gracefully I must get back on a skin care routine. So, I am going back to keeping a wash, tone, moisturize, protect regimen.

For my wash it is still the non negotiable acne-aid bar, toning for me is split into two parts clarifying and acne control, I am now on the lookout for moisturizer with a good spf. Plus a good non sticky body lotion also with a good amount of spf thrown in. While I want some sun protection, I am not really too keen on whitening. Hopefully the product is compatible with my skin, because if a product makes me breakout, I stop using it immediately and toss it in the dump.

  • Care to share your current moisturizer?

lost and found

I now own two umbrellas.

my umbrellas

my umbrellas- on top -the original umbrella, bottom -the new one

That seems to be weird for me, because for the longest time it has always been one umbrella for one little me. I use things until they decide to give up on me (broken). I also develop attachment to things and that sort of “relationship” makes me take good care of my things.

2 years ago.  I came home with my umbrella broken after a fight with strong wind/s of a typhoon, seeing that I have nothing to use the next day my (younger) sister Nicole gave me one of hers. –Unlike me, Nicole sort of collects umbrellas. And owns three or more. It is still in pristine condition that I do not think of it as a hand-me-down but rather as a gift.

The one she gave me is a automatic collapsible umbrella in navy blue with a purple trim. I was thankful for the gift and has grown rather fond of the umbrella for its ease of use and because it is compact and lightweight. Sturdy too!  It has been with me through every rain and the intense heat I encountered on the way. It has been with me through the heavy rains and manages to get me home somewhat dry.

Each time I use the umbrella, I feel grateful for my sister. Obviously, I have a strong sense of attachment to that umbrella.

Till it went missing for (2) weeks. I realized it was missing when there was a drizzle and I tried to look for the umbrella in my bag. No umbrella to be found. I waited for the rain to pass and thought I must have left it at home. Once I got home, I frantically searched for the umbrella but it is nowhere to be found.

It was sad. And because it is the monsoon season, rains are unavoidable. I know I have to find the umbrella or buy a new one. I just braved the rains and still thought the umbrella would magically show up one day at home. Meanwhile, I used a huge golf umbrella as a temporary umbrella. I also came clean and told my sister I lost the umbrella she gave me. I am resigned to the fact that I really have to replace the lost umbrella.

Over the weekend with my sister in tow, I brought a new umbrella (the second umbrella). It was bigger than the first umbrella, much heavier but with the same function. It was lavander with silver trim. While I loved the new umbrella, I still compare it to the original umbrella that I lost.

It has encountered light rains but I didn’t get the chance to use it yet. –My personal take was if it’s just a light rain, why would I bother? It’s just water anyway.

Yesterday, I got a message from Kei. Telling me that the umbrella I lost was going home. I was puzzled. After all, it has been a while. As soon as Kei got home he gave me back the umbrella. Turns out I had forgotten to bring back my umbrella and it was left at our friend’s house. The time they were looking for it, it was mistakenly used as their own by one of their nannies. That made us think that we lost it. But they realized that it was ours and sent it back.

So, I got my beloved umbrella back! -And now I have two umbrellas.
