A quick hello! I miss writing here.

Sorry for the lack of new posts/updates. There are just too much happening right now and I cannot find the time to write a decent post so I’m going to be silent for a while.

live and let go

live and let go

I have been busy with work and helping out friends and family with their businesses because the BER-months (in the Philippines, once it hits September it’s already Christmas season) is here!  Also the weather caused health issues-Kei is at home, recuperating from a bacterial infection as I type this. The Patio war with the pigeons is still going on! Mad hate them! This time around, I am sacrificing our home’s aesthetic and will screen off the whole patio with green plastic screen. –To deter the pigeons. Hopefully I can find a way to make it look acceptable but for now the pigeons really have to go. I am tired of cleaning up after them daily.

Hopefully within a couple of weeks or less I will be back to blogging.

a pasalubong pop

We have always dreamed about going to Japan, because we love the culture, the anime and their awesome food. But since we are not that lucky/or rich enough to go there we are contented to have pasalubongs from friends who visit Japan. *Japanese embassy please adopt us!* This time we got one from Kei’s brother. He works for a tech company in Japan (lucky him!) and is done with his Japanese work contract and will now be staying here in the Philippines for good (the same company of course). Its  a double win for us.

Here is the contents of the pasalubong bag.

pasalubong

not all of these are mine, I share this with Kei.

Not exactly extravagant in any way but hey it has our toys! I asked for the Daenerys Pop because I saw it on Amazon Japan. Pops are not that famous in Japan because they have their own version, the very detailed and posable Nendoroid. I like Nendoroids but I cannot collect them due to them being much pricey-er than pops. And because I have already started on pops and they do not have GOT pops…

So here is my Daenerys that I have waited for!

finally after a long wait

finally after a long wait

The box is not in a good condition it has dents but it is still ok with me, after all it traveled a long way. The weird thing with this pop is that it came with a note and a receipt plus a business card with a map to the store that sold this pop.

If only I can understand the note...

I am loving the bunnies on the note! Now, if only I can understand the note…

Japanese people really do things on a different level.

Time to unbox this pop! From the time I picked up the box I already saw the imperfections of this pop, but since this certain pop is real hard to find now, I cannot be picky. Adding to that is the fact that this is an old pop. Old pops = bad paint jobs and bad details. Oh well.

hair strand slightly detached, eye not

hair strand slightly detached, and is that an eyebag I see? oh the eye paint is not aligned.

Let us view the turn around of this pop. Here we go!

Definitely not a perfect pop. I think this is the most imperfect pop I own right now. But its ok, I am still glad to have her.

Our Khal is definitely thrilled to be reunited with his Khaleesi!

reunited and it feels so good...

finally together!

Just for this time the sun rises in the west and sets in the east for the Khal and Khaleesi.

Sigh, Nothing like a good (pop) reunion. Enjoy the long weekend everyone!

collected and comfy

One of my favorite pastimes is to look at other people’s houses (on blogs) at the internet, I look at them for fun and inspiration. I like looking at how others decorate their place and their lifestyle.

But my personal favorites are those quirky homes/apartments that have a lot of character that doesn’t look like it just brought a whole showcase from the store or grabbed everything from pinterest. Because who the hell does that?! Common people do not live like that.

Therefore it has been my mission to style my home with practicality, and without breaking the bank. I source items that are practical and useful and also adhere to the “style” I wanted to create. I still believe that style isn’t expensive, but it does take thought and time. *ie, in looking for items for home I really stick to my guns and look for blues, greens or anything that will complement the items I have at home if there is none then I don’t buy. I have an assortment of plastic items (I have my balde and tabo in green and blue of course!), metal shelf, bargain stuff (daiso items) and even some local/native and hand me down items.

So this time I am sharing my real life home style – including items that I use and can be found in my home.

ecclectic modern tropical

welcome to our eclectic modern tropical home

Collected and comfy was my guiding principle in creating our home style. We worked around with the existing green bathroom on our home and build up around it. I used a calming analogous color scheme of blues and greens to create a cool and calm feel on our home. I got very much excited with creating the color palette as you can see above. I even added plants to make the home more inviting.

Every day has enough challenges, so it’s worth it to splurge on some of the items we use most, like a good smelling hand soap, or a cup of coffee…etc. Its about the little things that make everyday living less of a bore.

We usually have friends over so the most used area in our place is the dining and living. I made sure to get decent throw pillows, table ware, extra seating (in our color) some fun matching place mats and a picture frame that we personalized with a quote and our wifi passord! That simple frame got a lot of compliments. Because sometimes its the effort that counts.

Not bad right? To think most of our stuff are brought on sale!

While our home style continues to evolve and change what I love most about my home is:

It is my comfy place, the place where I can be myself.

The one I share it with.  ❤

for the night is dark and full of terrors: pop friday

Since I am not yet fully recovered, today’s pop Friday title befits me and the pop I have on hand. It is none other than Melisandre from the Game of Thrones. The red woman, red priestess, the seductive ginger and also the ancient crone. Her character is quite a mystery.

Of course I need to get her pop for my Game of Thrones collection! There are actually two kinds of Melisandre a regular one and a Barnes and Noble exclusive.

the regular pop on the left, the exclusive pop on the right

the regular pop on the left, the exclusive pop on the right -the exclusive one is translucent

Truth be told I had a hard time looking for this one. It was mostly sold out when I went to find the regular one, the exclusive one was way overpriced (it was 900php) so I did not really bother. I was bent on looking for the regular one, lest I spend more… So when my cousin asked me what I wanted to get from Barnes and Noble -because she will be visiting the store, I excitedly asked her for the exclusive Melisandre pop! It took a lot of asking from the Barnes and Noble employees, and the said employees searching before they all got me this. -this was after all an old release.

finally got one!

finally got one!

I got the last piece from Barnes and Noble NYC! Woot! She is beautiful!

out of the box and on hand

out of the box and on hand – she does have paint issues too but that is minor.

It has the vivid bright red-orange color that I wanted and the translucent effect makes it look unique unlike my other GOT pops that adds to her charm. After all she is a “magical” character. I find the flame quite adorable too!

If you look closely enough, you will see that she wears a necklace. The detail of this pop is mostly in the sculpt, there is not really much to paint as she is all red. Red hair, red dress…

This pop also has that “color shifting” thing to it, at times it looks red, sometimes orange and sometimes you get to see both red and orange in one photo. Like the one above, also a bit like fire. Pretty neat addition to the collection. Although it looks like my Jon Snow is unsure whether he likes the new addition or not.

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
