conclusion of my 2014

The Christmas season is now over. I have finished listing the highs and lows that happened the past year. I realized the past year was so busy and money is tight. I did not even know how the hell did I manage to pull it off. I also did not have a vacation this year. It was a stressful, and I also pruned my so called “friends”. (I don’t have a lot of friends, but I am sure they are true.)

The typhoons that hit this year also took away a lot from me.

On the lighter side, I am now engaged to Kei, I get to be with my foodie/blogger buddy Matti (on two food trips!). I still got to give my friends gifts given my tight financial situation. My persistent eye infection is now resolved. I have a wedding church/venue. Booked a designer and a cake maker! Met my second cousins. Get to bond with my Atchie/Aunt Karen when she and her family stayed here in Manila for the holidays. I attended quite a number of friend’s weddings. Met up with my childhood friends. Kei turned 30. I attended a camp/ flew to Bicol for the first time!

I also got an apology from my college bully.

Kei and I also got gifts for our future home, and our wedding will be on the latter part of 2015! Wedding gifts came early!

Quite a lot has happened 2014.  I hope 2015 will be more relaxed.

been stalking

I have been stalking a dress.

store

Plains and Prints Robinsons Manila

That dress! The one Anne Curtis is wearing. I saw that huge poster around the last few days of November.

Asked for the said dress. It was still unavailable.

So, I bide my time waiting for the dress… went to different malls to look for it. Nothing.

Kei suggested we try looking at Shangri-la Mall. (this mall seems to have most of the stuff we are looking for) So we went.

We learned that the dress I want is is named Tokushima, from the Modern Metropolis collection. A limited edition and is already sold out.

So with no Tokushima dress on sight I looked for the other dresses from their Modern Metropolis collection. Two caught my eye. The Johannesburg and Moscow.

Tried them on and got the Johannesburg, as Kei likes it better than the other.

So, off I went, happy to get a dress. But I still wanted to see and try on the Tokushima.

Not one to give up, I tried calling all the branches of their store to look for the coveted dress. Again I was told that it is a limited edition, and apparently they made 50pcs for their preview, and another 50 was distributed to the other stores. Only 100 dresses are made. Tokushima was only made in sizes s, and xs.

My chances are slim. Only one Tokushima dress is left. In xs (my size!) and it is reserved.

Arrrggghhhh! Oh well, but still hopeful …we left our number. In case the one who reserved it did not get the dress.

After a day we got a call from Plains and Prints Greenbelt. It is now reserved to me!

Along with Kei we went to get the Tokushima.  Once in my hands I was a bit surprised that the Tokushima is not white but a pale shade of lilac grey. (was fooled by the posters!) But I like lilac. So it is not a problem for me. I went on to fit the dress and it did fit nicely.

The attendants also wanted me to try on their Madrid dress.

Madrid was the one they kept recommending to me when they learned that I was looking for the Tokushima. I liked the color of madrid but it looks poofy on me. When I tried it on, I look shorter than the usual so, even if its pretty, its a no for me.

I got the Tokushima. Finally.

I got two dresses. The Johannesburg from Shangrila in the medium sized orange box with three ponds freebies inside! And the Tokushima from Greenbelt in the small green box.

*Price?  1898php per dress.

the three-zero, Kei’s #epicthiry

Kei and I attended Christian and Beya’s wedding last Oct 26, 2014. Despite all the rush, long distance and time constraints we thought they had a nice wedding.

That got me thinking/sort of worrying for when it is our turn. What would our wedding be like?

And the day after we attended the wedding, Kei celebrated a milestone in his life. He turned 30.

I was very much excited! Much more than Kei himself who doesn’t usually celebrate his birthdays. (His family is not big on birthdays.) So, I made some teasers for his #epicthirty based on BBC’s Sherlock Holmes series that he likes. In hopes that he will be anticipating his birthday, not dreading the day he turns three-zero!

And because I wanted the day to be special, I crafted a “Man Bouquet” (male counterpart of a flower bouquet) for him! It turned out pretty awesome! The mix included Chivas Regal, Jack Daniels, Johnnie Walker and ferrero rocher chocolates.

Kei's Man Bouquet - the mix includes chocolates and liquor. I must say I’m awesome at creating this!

I also planned a whole day of activities for him. (I always do.) This time around I came up with a English/Sherlock / Jack Daniel’s label as design inspiration. He had a manly barberdashery experience, a European lunch, afternoon tea and Steak and oysters for dinner. To make it personalized, I custom made a placemat for him with the activities listed on it.

He had a grand time. He is now thirty and happy. Mission accomplished for me. I am happy too.

October is done. With that I leave you with a Happy Halloween y’all!

first things first

I am going to camp! (Thanks to Kei for my sponsorship!)

And this is going to be my first camp experience ever!  excited much?! I am, so much that I even volunteered to design the poster below.

the SSP-Zion Fellowship retreat poster I made.

the SSP-Zion Fellowship retreat poster

This will be on July 27-28 (Sunday to Monday). We were actually hoping that July 28 will be declared a holiday. But,  apparently, Eid’l Fitr holiday for this year falls on July 29 (a Tuesday). Oh well, I must pass a leave form and do advance work to keep up. Manageable and with time for adjustment! perfect!

Major plus that it will be held in Tagaytay! where the climate is cooler! I can escape metro manila’s oven like temperature. Hooray!

Its been ages since our last church outing. So, I’m thankful to have this opportunity to be with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Our topic for this retreat is apt for us working people, because sometimes our priorities are warped and we still don’t realize it. First things first! I usually claim to be organized and all but, I really fail this one from time to time. I must learn and learn till this is natural. Must improve the quality of my relationship with God.

A few more days to go!

first of the few days

It is holy week again. Last year I had plans for the week, this year there is none.

Normal days on the first three and vacation days on the rest of the four days. Pretty much the summer vacation of a worker.

It is time to sink back and let go with the world.

thankful friday

It is Friday again!

thankful

And today I am thankful for:

1.) The past year. 2013 is the year Kei and I did not quarrel.

2.) The random chat messages from my bestie. Be it about our early morning commute, lipstick shades, what we want to do, where to go etc… Those seemingly little chats makes my day brighter.

3.) Teeth alignment shows more improvement. Thank you braces! Thank you dentist!

4.) I was told that the store I designed did well last month. That really made my day! Hoping for more projects this year.

5.) My devotional last night. (Sharing this in case some one needs a little reminding like I do.)
