a little sister

20 years ago I wished for a little sister.

I was eight years old then. I promised God I would be an awesome big sis if I get one.

I did get one. On Dec 15, 1993 Mum delivered a little girl! After 3 days, my Dad and I plus our nanny picked up my little sister from the hospital nursery. Went home with a little red faced girl swaddled under a fluffy yellow blanket. I was happy to see her, and take her home with us. She looked so tiny and fragile. I was actually afraid to hold her.

As soon as we arrived home, we placed her beside Mum. I asked for permission to touch her.

I held her feet, it was tiny and red too!

Now my little sis is turning 20 this Sunday. (Dec. 15)

Time flew by so fast. I feel old! hahahaha! A while ago I was planning for her debut and now, I am planning for her 20th.

And because I just watched Disney’s Frozen yesterday, I cant help but see the similarity of Anna and Elsa’s pose to our pose.

and that is just a random thought… and maybe that is why i wrote this post?

I am really lucky I have a sister.

We often do not see things the same way, we argue and fight but at the end of the day, we are friends, we are family and most of all we love each other.

balai indang

Last Aug 25, 2013 my fellowship went to Balai Indang. I was so glad to get away from work and home stress!

After all the stormy days, work issues, I want a piece of quiet.

I liked the place a lot. Feels homey and there were a lot of greenery to soothe tired eyes. I also loved their whimsical decor and the mismatched chairs added to the old world charm.

Inside the Balai are more interesting stuff!

there are old clocks, Thai figures, Chinese vases, a daybed, toy boat, and lots of stuff loaded with character.

After a bit of milling around, We had lunch. The lunch was so good! I didn’t even know I was already eating vegetable omelette! I dont have any photos, because I was hungry and ate everything right away we were pressed for time!  We then had games then proceeded to caregroup bible study and a praise and worship session.

Along the way to the worship session, I spotted this.

I sort of realized that we were blessed with good weather, since the past few days  has been a stormy. We can have sunshine!

I then, promptly rejoined the others for our next activities. Sorry for the lack of photos. Its been a blur of activities for me that I didn’t get the chance to take many photos, besides, I went there for quiet time and worship, so for now, I leave you with the colorful flowers found at Balai Indang.

Given the chance I would like to visit this place again without the rush.

irreplaceable

Another day and it will be Mother’s Day. I still don’t have anything to give my Mum.

I haven’t been able to go out and buy her stuff since our house-help is on an indefinite vacation (again), and I go straight home after work to accompany my siblings. Our Mum is a working Mum and when she comes home at night, she will still be the one that cooks dinner for us. then we all go to sleep. This has become our daily routine for this week.

I will never know how my Mum does it. Its as if she has unlimited supply of energy. She goes to work, comes home and does housework. Chat us up over dinner and remind us to drink our medicines/water. She is the first up in the morning and the last to sleep at night.

I want something nice for my Mum.

I suppose I can go buy something for her tomorrow. Or better yet, get her to rest tomorrow by cooking dinner. While I am not exactly good in the kitchen, I could probably give it a try. If it fails, there is always take-out.

Mum,

May God bless you always as you have blessed me with life, lessons and love. May your troubles be few and your joys be many.

The blessing of the Lord be upon you! -Psalm 129:8

Happy Mother’s Day!

Much Love,

Pammy
