no stopping christmas

The tree is up!

We managed to assemble and decorate the tree, it turned out nicely!

here is Pepper photobombing our tree

The feathered birds looked right at home in the tree!

I might add some ribbons but it is looking good. At night it looks “glowy” like the rice lights had extra brilliance. See?

We also hung the ornament chandelier we got. -kind of missing a few more ornaments here and there because we have run out of ornaments. But it can hold on its own, maybe next year we add more. For now it would look like that, plus a few more ribbons. -For that I have to run to the neighborhood bookstore to get some ribbons.

The dining table also got a Christmas touch.

Yes we have bunnies on the table.

That’s about it for the Christmas decorations. Finishing up in time for our Friendsgiving this weekend!

Christmas is right around the corner! I am so excited for the holidays!

Holing up

We had some minor home fix its and additions that had us holed up at home for the whole weekend. Good news is our bedroom ceiling is all patched up. –We had to damage the ceiling for our air conditioning unit to fit (there wasn’t enough space). While it does not look pretty, due to the fact that we did not restore the “original state” since we had to make sure that we can get the unit out in case we need to. That was day one. For that I am quite thankful.

By the evening, we hurriedly went back to Landmark-Makati in hopes of getting those (darned) white Christmas balls that we were supposed to get last week. Again, there were none. Arrggggh. So, we thought maybe it wasn’t really meant to be. We just have to get the white using other Christmas decor.

In the end we managed to complete our Christmas décor hunt. In our chosen colors- red, aqua and white.

red white and blue?

red white and aqua blue decor- say hello to our feathered Christmas birds!

Hopefully by Nov 30 our tree will be up.

Day two, we are back to sawing, painting, sanding, cleaning up sawdust, and plaster. We smoothed out plaster, wiped out wood glue, installed a hook for the Christmas chandelier, permanently placed the clock by using screws this time and not with command strips. #adulting

By night, we got this neat ladder/trellis type shelf up. –This is going to be decorative/storage space and emergency sampayan (indoor clothesline) in case of rainy days! We also had hooks attached to it so we can hang a swag for Christmas.

our multitasking ladder shelf

I am loving our newly made multitasking ladder shelf!

Not bad right. I am quite pleased with how it turned out! Also just in time for our upcoming “Friendsgiving”! -We called our close friends for a little get together before everyone gets too busy with the holidays.

Then we went out to Akira to celebrate. Having a Izakaya night on a Sunday. We deserved it for the hard workday/s. hahahaha!

feast for the tummy and eyes too!

I am very much excited to decorate and get the tree up for the festivities!

our craziest christmas shopping adventure yet

Last Sunday, Kei announced that we are going to Trinoma. He wanted to check out a Ramen restaurant that his brother recommended, and will (finally) go hunting for Christmas stuff for the home.

Before we headed out, I checked about what events are in Trinoma… apparently there is a mall wide sale -nice, because I thought we could go look for some Christmas ornaments,  and Plains & Prints are having a preview of their holiday collection! Of course I wanted to check it out!

Off we go to our first stop.

hanamaruken ramen

Their specialty is pork ramen… although I am not that fond of pork, I am pleased with their ramen! as well as their green tea!

true to their slogan, it is indeed happiness in a bowl

We are sure to be back!

Next we wandered off in search for Plains & Prints. We found it easily enough and true to what I saw online there is a preview shopping for their holiday collection!

There were a lot of people inside the store and the fitting room was packed! I saw some dresses that I already saw online. After trying on some dresses. We agreed on one -the Tigerlily dress. It features cap sleeves, a rather structured cut and embroidered lace detail on one side, in a deep red color.

The dress I got. Tigerlily dress.

The dress I got. It has a Cersei Lannister feel to it-not that I am complaining. I am just happy to have it in my size.

I can wear this up to Chinese new year because of the color. While the cashier wraps the dress in the box, Kei jokingly chants “long may she reign” -in reference to game of thrones Cersei Lannister. Such a geek. lols.

I got one red dress. Not bad.

Done with Plains& Prints. Since we are off from a good start, we thought going to find Christmas ornaments would be easy. -We are going for red, aqua and white color theme for our tree.

we are going for this color combination

We looked at TrueValue (they have a sale too) and went out with two boxes of shatterproof ornaments (we got medium sized red and aqua balls) and a string of rice lights.

Next would be looking for the white balls and some smaller red and aqua to add dimension to the tree decor. -Thinking that Landmark Trinoma would have lots of white decor, we trooped to the department store only to find out that there are no more white decor left. Somebody brought all the white decor in bulk. Not one to back down from our chosen color theme, and also to finish our Christmas stuff we thought of going to Landmark Makati. And we really did go.

After a few mins of traffic, we arrived at SM Makati.  And promptly got distracted by one of our favorite store -Crate and Barrel. They are offering 50% off in their Christmas items. They are so thoughtful to offer that! Of course I have to hunt down the Christmas chandelier I wanted.

This was the price before.

Since I really like the chandelier, I took this photo hoping that it goes on sale and I can justify getting one.

Looks like I got my wish granted. The chandelier’s price went down to below 1k.

Of course I had to have it. But there is a catch. There are only two remaining and both of them are used as store display. Both have their box missing in action. We thought to hell with it, just a box anyway we will just get another box.

So we got it. Along with a tiny white photo frame ornament that has 2015 engraved on it -since 2015 is our wedding year we could place our wedding photo there.

Kei feels right at home with the soft pillows.

And we shopped while seated in the “exhibit” area of Crate and Barrel in the middle of the mall. – So much win! Much thanks Crate and Barrel Makati team!

After getting the chandelier we went for a quick grocery shopping and left everything at the package counter. So we can get right back to going to Landmark and getting the white and smaller ornaments.

It was while walking to Landmark that we noticed people running. Confused and a bit worried, we got “adopted” by Octagon and let us stay at their store. Apparently fire broke out in Glorietta 3. Causing panic to a lot of shoppers. After a few mins. We were all let out. This was mission abort-our shopping trip has to stop.

Kei and I calmly walked back to SM Makati, back to Crate&Barrel then to the supermarket package counter to get our stuff and go.

On the way home we stopped by Cash and Carry to have Jollibee for a quick dinner and found a cute striped shirt for Kei- that we got and then we went home.

So yeah. This was by far our craziest shopping trip ever. – I mean we do multiple mall runs on a day but going to multiple malls and having some sort of action drama tops the list.

Hopefully this coming weekend we can complete our tree.

feeling like Christmas

Now that Halloween is done, it is officially Christmas! I am very much excited because this Christmas Kei and I can spend it as we please. (last Christmas we were stressed –due to the wedding and mostly catching up on sleep, and cleaning up our place. We never had any Christmas décor last year) So this time we can have a tree! And some Christmas décor too. I am excited!

the only thing that is "Christmas" ready are our couch pillows

A breather

Halfway done with the initial wave of workload. Thank God.  Have a bit of time right now. Expecting the next wave as soon as the last week of November maybe? Anyway, I am thankful.

That brings me to planning my yearly Christmas tradition…planning my list. This is the time I usually send the wishlist to those who are in the list. Yes. I am O.C. like that. I wanted to get the people who matter to me a present they would use/like. So, far I have ideas for a few, for the others, I still need to find stuff they would love.

Speaking of Christmas presents… Mason Jars are apparently “it thing” right now. First saw them popping out on Pinterest then a visit to a cute cupcake bakery got me looking for those mason jars in the Philippines. (I got mine shipped, from a college friend.)

This could be a really cute Christmas gift paired with some marshmallows and hot chocolate (this will be my staple holiday gift for 2014)!

These are our mason jars! *brought our mugs to Starbucks to get better mug photos.

So once I have finished dealing with my nefarious workload… it is off to Christmas shopping! Think happy thoughts!

little red dots

No, I am not talking about polka dot patterns. I am talking about my skin.

From how my skin looks like, it definitely needs help. Like immediately please.

tweezerman-no-slip-blackhead-tool

I need a visit to the Derma as soon as possible. Endure the pain to get better. *sighs*

I don’t want to look like my skin is inspired by dots of snow/polka dots or in my case dots of pimples.

As soon as the dermatologist saw me she says I am breaking out due to an allergic reaction. I was like, I thought this was stress… She said yes, and that too.

Stress + Allergic reaction = current breakout.

And no pricking for this time. Which is good and bad at the  same time. Good because no pain, Bad because I have to deal with the bumps/redness. And Christmas is only a few days away!

I was asked to switch soap, shampoo, toothpaste and prescribed oral and topical medications. No sunblock on the face for the meantime.

These are the products I am currently using.  The classic Colgate, Dove bar for sensitive skin, and Pantene shampoo.

products

I am happy to say they seem to be working fine!

My skin is still far from being acne free, but it is improving.

Hopefully by the next Derma visit, she can give me a sunblock which I can use because I am scared that my freckles will multiply. . .

*All my reviews, opinions, and other stuff expressed here are my own and based on my own experience with the product/s. This is not a sponsored post, I paid for this (from) my own pocket.

christmas came early

christmas-lights31

And just like that it is already Christmas. I am already feeling all the “Christmas associated feelings” like running out to complete my Christmas shopping list, getting cups of hot coffee, searching for my sister’s birthday present, running off to get my friends some nice stuff,  calling up a bakeshop to get the neighbors some warm brownies, buying inappropriate amounts of wrapping paper and ribbons because I like the color, it is shiny and find the pattern pretty, assembling my makeshift gift wrapping station at home, looking at window displays for clothes that might be this year’s Christmas outfit/ new year’s outfit getting them and then buying again because the new one looked better, suppressing the need to light up all the twinkle lights strung at home because the electric bill will spike up, and the panic buying of generic gifts en masse. (or my so called Christmas biscuits/chocolate for those whose name I forgot to place on the list) Walking around the mall feeling like I am on a shopping spree and going home with only a hundred on my pocket. I really look forward and get all excited about this!

*And because it is a good thing to get everyone’s presents in their size/color…etc. I am sharing with you my Christmas wishlist survey which I send to all my friends come yuletide season so I can pick out the right stuff for my friends.
