a case of the Mondays every day of the week

Getting me up from the bed each morning is a struggle now. I’d rather stay under the covers.

I’m breaking out a lot these days, mostly on my forehead. The biggest is right between my eyerows, making me look like a three eyed alien; It looks hideous! Some of my friends even saw me with the huge ass zits but whatever; I shall stick to my no popping rule. #uglynoworuglyforever

Having the rain falling everyday makes me extremely sluggish. Then again nobody will do my housework for me so, I just went ahead and did indoor gardening (I tried to save what is left of my ice plant) and laundry duties-even if it means that all the wet clothes will be drying indoors making my living area look like it’s on a perpetual garage sale.

A friend of mine also took pity on my potted garden and sent me some golden pothos cuttings and small fittonias to accompany what was left of my ice plant. Much thanks and hopefully I can keep these plants alive.

However this weather makes me have the perfect excuse to drink coffee all day long! So that works for me.

Since I am forced to stay home, the shopaholic in me found a new avenue to window shop. I am now scrolling through Instagram like going on a window shopping stroll. I also try catching them all Pokemons at home while watching some random stuff from YouTube.

How was your week? Keep dry and safe!

How we spent labor weekend: aka our Gay-bordate shopping weekend

So, most people we know are off to Boracay to spend the labor day weekend. Being true blue city-girl-mall-rats….my best friend and me have decided that labor day will be dedicated to hunting items from our Christmas wish list (last year 2014) but with the premise of getting the said stuff on sale or discount.

So, Joanna wanted a Marc Jacobs Henry Skeleton Watch, I was looking for Miss Dior EDP preferably the 100ml bottle. Those were the specific item we are hunting for. Since both items are pricey. We looked at every possible option to obtain them for cheaper. (That means we spent the past few months, going to Rustans, Cash and carry, Shangri-la and even looking for it online.) Till this weekend. It was do or die. We are going to wing it.

This is going to be a girly shopping day. Hence, Gay-bor date.

With Kei in tow, off we go to Cash and Carry to look for the Miss Dior edp. I asked store after store to no avail.

close but not really the one. sorry.

close but not really the one. sorry.

Started with Bescost (they only have the old miss dior originale with the full houndstooth patterened bottle see top left photo), then to Criseldas’s (that only has the miss dior blooming bouquet variant see top right photo), Tia Loleng’s ( no miss dior here), till I saw it at Anselka’s! A 100ml bottle with the gold/amber liquid! Was grinning with excitement.

hollo lovely!

hello lovely!

I hurriedly dragged Jo to Anselka’s and showed her the bottle. Checked it for authenticity and went on to get the loot. Mad happy really.

Next, we went to meet Jo’s Dad and he drove us/treated us to a sumptuous lunch at Tim Ho Wan. That porkbun was melt in the mouth yums! Lunch was so awesome we finished lunch in less than an hour. I also learned a few Cantonese phrases over lunch. Also added a new food fave  – Lo mai gai. That my friends, is steamed glutinous rice in lotus leaf.

So after lunch our group went to meet our childhood friend Geordan, plus his parents. Chatted up a bit and it was time for them to go. Jo’s dad also went home.  With only the three of us are walking around Glorietta, Kei and I went to introduce Adora to Joanna. She loved the place! She is familiar with the bags! And proceeded to give me a crash course on bag appreciation. Fancy stuff. After the bags, I got her to try Penhaligon’s scents. After a few sniffs on the testers, she ended up liking what I liked best – Empressa. We like patchouli. Hahaha!

Then looked at the watches on display. Little did I know, the watch Jo likes was on display! And an added bonus, on sale.

finally found you.

finally found you.

She has been looking for it for a while now. Her initial pick was the rose gold version of the Marc Jacobs Henry Skeleton watch, but seeing this lovely gold version made her change her mind. Few more minutes waiting for it to get adjusted, Joanna got her loot! With a gift with purchase sticky note pad! Score!

So we went to have a afternoon coffee to escape the summer heat.

Then proceeded to take outfit of the day pictures. Sun dresses are the in thing for the day!

Come dinner, we get Joanna to try one of our fave food haunt Kitchitora. We both got Paitan ramen sets. So that she gets to sample the different appetizers.

Kei got tsukemen as expected. Here is our whole spread.

Joanna loved the place and the food! Good one Kitchitora!

After dinner we chatted a bit then its time to go home. To cap it all off here is our loot for the day.

*Much thanks to Kei for accompanying us, being the photographer for the day and helping us find our stuff! Our only regret is we did not take picture with Joanna’s dad and Geordan plus his parents. Next time… Overall it is a good day for shopping.

Next day was Saturday. It was a normal work day for me. And also did all my grooming rounds. By that I mean going to the dermatologist and dentist. Kei prepared his presentation for church tomorrow. We spent the day at home watching big bang theory and eating chickenjoy,  heaps of palabok + Chinese take out dinner,  all of which are drowned with buko juice. We are cool like that. hahaha!

Sunday was a Yes and No day. YES that Kei pulled off the church activity he planned perfectly. All is well till Pacquiao lost. That was the NO. Bummer.

We ran off to the mall again, where else?! hahaha! the afternoon was spent on retail therapy. We tried Old Navy as we heard that they make good looking comfy-casual clothes and that their pant/s selection is good! Meaning they carry a wide range of pant sizes! So, Kei tried on pants and I tried on dresses.

Here are the ones I tried on. From left to right: White eyelet dress (no xs size so not for me), the middle and right are the same design, only the middle is a swiss dot design and the right one is in stripes. All my picks are 100% cotton fabric. I hate polyester.

all pretty!

He got two pants one in denim and another in khaki. I got two dresses. The swiss dot and the stripe. After that we doused our hot temper in iced macchiato and went back to grab our new found fave porkbuns. Then ate a lot again for dinner.

this is

this helped us feel better. but our wallet does not feel better. lols.

This sums up our weekend. We eat and shop.

How did you spend you labor weekend?

irked to the second power

There are some things that money just cannot buy, like manners, morals and integrity.

kape

The statement above cannot be more accurate for my weekend experience. Kei and I had to work on a architectural plan this weekend, but we also want to spend time together so we came up with an idea… we do our work as usual at the nearest coffee shop. Then go shopping after.

That was the start of a cringe worthy afternoon experience for the both of us.

As soon as we arrived at the coffee shop, we immediately got our orders and proceeded to carry on our task. Plugged the laptop and even shared our table to a couple of students. After a short while the students left, leaving the whole table to us. Bliss.

Then came a family of tourists. They have no table so we shared ours to them. The family having many members, are arguing themselves on how to get more chairs/grab other people’s spot. We paid them no attention.

Our peaceful stay has become a disaster. The kids of the said family fought over a frap, suddenly there was screaming, and crying and without a warning  my feet was splashed with a cold sticky mocha frap. Without even a sorry and without even bothering to wipe of the mess on our area and the floor. The elders of the family just got napkins to soak up the coffee on the table. So, there we were on a shared table, our laptop near the pile of soggy napkins and my feet sticky and clammy from the frap. I just wiped my foot with wet ones and acted like everything is normal.

I was irked, but yeah. shit happens so, we continue our work.

And the kids got another frap to fight over. Hell’s bells.

You guessed it. The contents of the second cup is all over the table again. For the second time, and they did have a lot more spare cups. We were restraining ourselves from getting into a fight with the family of tourists! If only we could do the table flip!

Before our stuff gets damaged, we hurriedly packed up and left.

With Kei muttering loudly and I giving them the stank eye. Good thing we did finish our work for a quick 30 mins.

core differences

last week, while taking my morning cup when my best friend sent me our (daily) morning devotion.

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. -Proverbs 16:8

Followed with a quote that goes: A man is never as good as he says he is, or as bad as others say he is. If people say something bad about you, judge you as if they know you, don’t get affected. just think… Dogs don’t bark if they know the person.

That had my mouth hanging open. How did my best friend know what I was thinking about? I quickly told her my thoughts and she answered I was thinking about those too. Wow. Even when we are miles apart we still have the “connection”. We go through the same experiences in life together, (not physically together) usually in a same circumstance/phase only with different participants/place/instances. we also have sort of the same outlook on problems and this has been going on since we were kids!  We do however have our own individual differences, preferences and demeanor too, but we blend well.

coffee chart taken from the internet

I realized people are like coffee, some are sweet, dark, mild, strong, light, bitter, etc. All attributed to how they are formed.

Lets use a cup of espresso as example. A shot of espresso is comprised of layers.

Pick out your beans.  Then we make the brew, time the shot and pour the coffee. It then separates to 3 layers. (from the top)

1. “crema” that fine-foam of oils containing the coffee’s best flavors and aromatic properties.

2.  “body” the middle part also the mouth fill of the shot.

3.  “core” or “heart” of the coffee. This is the deep brown bottom layer, which dictates the bitterness of the shot,

With people, it is composed of much more layers. People ‘s attitudes are formed by experiences, pressures, values, principles, standards, internal and external factors which are all unique, and different from others. Which is actually a good thing as we are all individuals. But there are times clashes occur. Maybe because of…

1. “Appearance” that outer body people look at, nationality, how you present yourself…etc.

2. “Mindset” how you think, biases, culture.

3. “Heart” feelings and attitude.

4. “Values” principles, internalized beliefs.

5. “Core” experiences that molded you into what you are and what you believe in.

The sum of the above dictates what kind of person a person is.

Maybe this explains why some people are good to be around with, and some to stay away from.

What is the mix of your brew?

“If the world hates you, remember that the world hated me first. If you belonged to the world, then the world would love you like it loves its own people. But I have chosen you out of the world. So you don’t belong to the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the lesson I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If people did wrong to me, then they will do wrong to you too. And if people obeyed my teaching, then they will obey yours too.”  -John15:18-20
