made it

Happy to have successfully hosted a Friendsgiving! -Main goal being to introduce our good friends to our other good friends. And bonding with our friends that are “family” to us before everybody gets too busy with the holiday season.

I am happy to note that everybody “mixed” well!

But due to my being busy having too much fun, I only have two measly photos. (sorry, no posting as both photos are group photos) It was a whole day of feast and games.

With a bit of twist into the traditional thanksgiving menu we came up with this.

kkklkmnnmnm,

As you can see this was a group thing. -On the bottom is our house logo. Yes, it is really meant to echo Pancake House! as our “loveteam name” sounds like pancake.

That was our spread. We also played quite a lot of monopoly deal.

Right after lunch we played monopoly deal all the way till 7. Only stopping to have snacks, wine and coffee. There were a lot of laughs, stories and friendly banter.

We also had a new game to add to our game collection, care of our friend Stephen.

a new addition to our games.

a new addition to our games

While we never played it yet, this will be a good game to play on the next “game day” at home.

Thankful to have a “wonderful family of friends” to be with us in our lives. We sure are blessed.

up the game

I’m on a roll today! I crossed of half of my to do list for the week. Feeling excited to channel all my pent up anger energy into training later.

Since summer is already upon us, I am making extra effort in concentrating on my core. I am far off from being thin or getting abs, I have a different goal in mind.

I wanted to get better. Used to have dextroscoliosis on my thoracic spine (back in 2011), with the help of my friendly coaches. My patience paid off. My back is in a better shape normal right now. I can even deadlift half of my own weight. How’s that for improvement? *belts out Britney’s  stonger than yesterday….*

Time to step up. I’m gunning for a better stronger body figure.

I could use the extra confidence and endorphins, exercise brings.

Bring it Coach.

I’m addicted to a really tough workout. I like to be drenched in sweat when I’m done because I feel accomplished. -Alison Sweeney

almost weekend

Weekend! Weekend!

I am very much excited for the weekend!

weekend?

photo from Pinterest

It’s Kei’s birthday this weekend! I want red velvet cake, chocolate cake and food  and stuff. Oh wait its not my birthday.

I have been planning for his gift a month ago only for it to be a huge let down but I cannot let it end that way. I then came up with the plan B (or the half of plan A). So far everything is going according to plan which is good. I just hope the weather cooperates as I planned a card/scavenger game for his day. As for the gift, I hope I did get something he would appreciate.

I still want the cake though.

thankful saturday

*My thankful friday will temporarily be moved to saturday to give way to Filipino Friday.

Woot! Weekend is here again! I am thankful for:

1.) A Uji Matcha Kitkat given to me today. Because I love KitKat/s.

2.)  A unplanned movie night date with Kei! We watched gravity.

3.) Meeting my cousins tomorrow for a late moon festival dice game.

4.) For my Dermatologist. I may hate visiting her because it (pricking)  is painful (both literally and in the wallet). But really, I am thankful that you are taking care of me.

5.) I am also happy that my Confirmation Class will resume tomorrow!

“I’ve started to look at life differently. When you’re thanking God for every little you – every meal, every time you wake up, every time you take a sip of water – you can’t help but be more thankful for life itself, for the unlikely and miraculous fact that you exist at all.” -A.J. Jacobs

a candy crush life

I am on level 245, and has been stuck for a week. Once I get through this I need tickets to get me to the next level.

Yes, I am talking about Candy Crush.

candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga

I love this game, my friends like it, even my mum plays it! It is simple and entertaining. I find it really helpful when I am passing time. I get excited and feel accomplished when I pass a level. I feel giddy when my friends send me lives and additional moves to help me get through the current level.

I never win straight. I win some then lose some. At times it takes a lot of tries to advance.

It also gets annoying when I have just one move left and I still need 2 moves to win. I shout a loud arrrrggghhh to show my frustration. But, I always get back and try again.

Funny that it resembles life. Persist till you win. Count on your friends to back you up.

A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success. -Elbert Hubbard

Visiting Solaire

A lot of people have been talking about the newly opened resort/casino, and with all the advertisements on TV, I have a severe last song syndrome and has been humming their song Brighter than the sun-by Colbie Caillat over and over.

I am curious and so is Kei. We decided to check it out if it lives up to its hype.

We arrived early and was impressed with the place. Everything screams opulence.

I am in awe with all the huge-ass chandeliers all over.

Sorry, I cant help it. I have a thing for chandeliers.

Then I saw these colorful looking plants near the gaming area.

Nestled on the far side of the gaming area is a food court. I think this is very considerate of them! Placing budget friendly food for everyone to enjoy.

We strolled along and stopped by Dragon Bar.

Feeling a bit hungry, we then proceeded to look at their restaurants.

Since we both share a love for pasta, we looked at Finestra, their Italian restaurant.

Finestra would be really nice for a romantic dinner date!

We then snapped a picture from the restaurant across, Red lantern. It serves Chinese cuisine.

But we were not really in the mood for Chinese cuisine that day so we moved along.

Next up was Strip. too bad it was closed.

They also have a Japanese Restaurant named Yakumi.

Since we normally eat Japanese dishes, we decided to skip this too.

Walked some more and then chose to eat at Fresh- their casual dining buffet. Since we are huge fans of buffets we thought we might as well try this one.

Given the space, It can actually accommodate many people.  But, they are very strict about seating. We choose to seat “inside”, but was requested to take the seats close “outside” to the gaming area (read: stinks of cigarette smoke, and far from the buffet table). I was like really? can’t we just stay inside?

To sort of give you an idea…

Disregard the hydrangeas, look to the left, that is where we are seated. Look to the right, there it is, the gaming area.

Only a half a strip of glass away we would look like we were dining alfresco, because it is beside the hallway, where a lot of people are passing by.

Since there are only two of us, we could pretty much do nothing about it.  So much for the seating, off to eat.

Fresh is actually reasonably priced, but I don’t see anything special, nothing unique. I was actually expecting the food to be delicious, but it was only so-so. I was very disappointed with their Chinese and Japanese stations. The soup that we had (hot and sour soup) tasted nothing like a hot and sour soup. I am Chinese, I know how that soup should taste like. The Japanese section is so limited and generic. I skipped it.

Then we went to get  ourselves the Solaire card. It looks like this. (sorry for the photo, this was taken with my mobile phone)

Then went on to play.

We didn’t have any other photos of the gaming area/machines since picture taking on the gaming areas were prohibited. Had a fun time playing with the slots even if we really don’t know how to play.
