my go-to makeup this fall

Colder days are here! I am very much excited to play with makeup (without the sweat) because I can be lazy AF on hot, humid days. I was given a foundation to try on by a good friend of mine that led me to go ahead and update my makeup stash. Currently these are my go-to products.

These are the ones I reach out for. From left: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Lips Nude Allude (314), Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in 2W0 Warm Vanilla, YSL Black Opium, Mac powder blush in mocha, L’Oreal Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick 232 Beige Couture, Becca Macaron Glow Kit, Hourglass ambient lighting powder blush in Diffused heat, Happy Skin X Love Marie Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie in Skinny dipping

On lipsticks I recently tend to go for the subtle warm color, as it less hassle to maintain thoughout the day. So its mostly MLBB shades with a bit of warm brown. As for the Estée Lauder foundation that was gifted to me, I love how lightweight it is on my skin! I blend it with a beautyblender and its good to go. For the blush, I now favor the classic Mac powder blush in mocha that lends a subtle color to the cheeks and I top it off with Hourglass diffused heat.

Since I am new to highlighters, and honestly a bit afraid to try it out. I worry that it might make my oily skin look greasy. So I decided to get the Becca macaron kit to try using a highlighter, thankfully it did not add to the oily-ness look. I usually go for the shade Opal, I apply this with a light hand and using a fan brush.. it leaves a soft glow on my skin. This makes me look rested and healthy.

For fragrance I am back to using Ysl Black Opium as it is a very cozy scent. Hopefully this weekend I get to sort out my fragrances, keep the summery ones in favor of the heavier, cold weather appropriate ones that I adore!

I just need to add hunt for a few more things to my closet and I am ready for the holidays!

fall favorites

We just finished the prenup shoot! ❤ So, I am back to blogging.

I’m just sharing the products that make me feel happy, pretty, girly-girl awesome. Even if I am a frazzled mess.

Nothing soothes my nerves quite like looking good.

Shallow, I know. But honey that is my therapy!

It sure is irrational that I go and get a lot of products and not use them everyday, I only use them on weekends. But I am still a girl and I’m just fascinated by makeup, dresses, and nail polish. Being pretty in general, like it would improve my quality of life?!

So, these are rightfully my fall favorites.

taken with my mobile phone- pardon the picture quality.

Since it’s fall season I darkened up my lips a notch. Currently alternating L’Oreal Paris collection star by Freida Pinto in Pure Rouge and Mac Rebel. These colors make me look polished and mature even if I only have baby powder on my face. -Added bonus: they make my teeth and skin look a lot whiter.

On my eyes, I am still on a roll with smokey eyes as it makes my tiny eyes look bigger and more awake. So the Urban Decay Naked Smoky eye shadow palette my cousin Jackie sent me gets a lot of love. I even managed to use it to create light eyes.

Depending on the color of the metal accessories I wear, I got metallic nail polish to match on my very short child like nails. I am using Zoya in Ziv (gold) and Trixy (silver). The nail polish is to add a bit of festive sparkle, after all it is only a few weeks to Christmas.

curious question: how many lipsticks do you own?

Using lipstick makes me pretty? No.

Using it makes me happy! And they say happy girls are pretty girls right?!

obsession

My Mum thinks I have way too much (She has two) , but even by just looking at my small collection (really) makes me happy. I think in total I have only 6 lipstick shades and three of them are pink. I wear them alternately.

my macs

What better color for a girl than pink?

Recently I love playing piling on my lippies. (ex: blood red topped with iridescent gold shimmer) I also tend to pick out blue based shades as they make my teeth look whiter!

I also keep some lip gloss, lip balms and lip stains. I have 4.

Is that too much? For one set of lips!

What about you? How many tubes of lipstick do you own? And how many do you have in regular use? Lastly, how many is too many?

I’m thankful for: A week in beauty

Its another Friday!

I’m thankful mainly for beauty stuff.

This week I have found myself alternately using two of my most summer-y scents I have. (It is now starting to get a bit chilly in Manila. But I am using a summery perfume… I blame it on a recent mini-vacation.) Smelling like summer gets me on a cheerful mood.

I also got myself a coral lippie! As if I did not have enough lippies! But this coral did not make me look deadly pale or weird. excuses. I also blame Fan Bing Bing, I love her! And if getting her lip color would make me look 0.005% like her, I am sold!

After two months of nail polish abstinence, I’m back at it again! Still loving the deep blue on my nails as they make my feet look posh! (as me and my bestie Joanna use to say: paa ng mayaman ang peg! – looks like the feet of a wealthy person)

To top my “beauty” week off, I got my hair colored to a light shade of brown.

berry smitten

A lot have been raving about Revlon just bitten kissable balm stain. I looked it up on Google.

It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood. -from Revlon’s website

Revlon is an American cosmetics, skin care, fragrance, and personal care company founded in 1932, and is now based in New York. The brand was founded in the midst of the Great Depression, and went on to become one of America’s top five cosmetic houses after the war.  The brand is well known all over the world. (the brand is now 81 years old)

What Revlon says about the product:

  • Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required.
  • Lightweight Lip stain + Moisturizing Balm in one.
  • 12 shades to choose from

I think I want one.

Being curious, I looked for them in the beauty counters, they cost 575php each.

I really thought if I am willing to shell out 500+ for a “drugstore brand” tube of lip balm.  But since, swatching on the beauty counters is free, I swatched at the back of my hand to my hearts content! I really liked the shade smitten.

But I went home without buying it.

Then I saw it on my friend’s page at facebook! Arrrgh! I want one!

So I then placed an order for one, got it after a few days, for a cheaper price.

Revlon Just bitten kissable balm stain in Smitten

Smitten is one of the darker shades from this range, a berry/fuchsia pink color, that reminds me of raspberries. Sort of a cross between plum and fuschia that turns into a deep pink stain.  It comes in a jumbo crayon shape with a silver band at the bottom that you twist to get more product. It feels/applies smoothly like a lip balm, with a touch of sheer color that is buildable.

Do they live up to the hype?

I find the product to be worth every peso I paid for! I love this product. I find it bothersome to re-apply balms or lipstick, but it stays on for a good 3-4 hours on me…which is great when I am out and do not have time to re-apply! Upon application balm also doesn’t stain right away, but after a while the balm gets absorbed, only the color is left behind. Being a stain/balm, it doesn’t look overwhelming or too bold, I also like that I can control the intensity of the color, and it also does a wonderful job at making your teeth look whiter in photos!

The formula is not that moisturizing for me. The product sometimes only stays the edges of my lips and leaving the center of my lips a lighter shade. I compensate by applying more product to the center of my lips. It lasts for about 3-4 hours on me.

*Price? I got this for 400++php at Cosmetic Alley
