late but still ok

We just watched Beauty and the Beast yesterday. Late I know, but we got the movie house to ourselves so it ain’t that bad.

Beauty and the Beast -photo from the internet

Emma Watson looked so pretty as Belle, as well as the remake of Belle’s yellow gown! Luke Evans also did a great job playing Gaston. To quote my bestfriend Jo:”If movies are cheap, I would watch it over and over again”. -I would definitely do that too!

I still have last song syndrome from the movie. No, actually make that from all the familiar Disney songs of my childhood. I sing along to them! Back to the movie, I liked how they made it as close to the cartoon that I watched countless of times in the TV and in my ViewMaster.

Lighted View Master just like mine. The only reels I have was Beauty and the Beast and Flintstones.

I swap ViewMaster reels with my friends.- That way we all get to watch different stories without having to buy a lot of reels. So retro.

And In the topic of being late and retro… Riverdale is delayed!!! But again its ok. Because the series is renewed by CW for season 2! So relieved! Archie Comics in a show. My favorite new show this season.

I am still waiting for the next episode of Riverdale! Excited much?!

travesty all over

Happy to report that I have been “healthy” eating a lot since I got market greens from Baguio.

I have made strawberry shrimp salad. Aka Pammy approved salad-that means its not exactly that healthy since I used quite a lot of butter on the shrimp.

I also made Sagada orange salad from Jo’s Sagada oranges.

Also cooked deep fried oyster mushrooms! -This is so yums! (obviously not healthy.)

After finishing off all the Baguio greens we got, it is time for CNY (Chinese New Year). Of course it is not CNY if we are not pigging out. *I am always pigging out.

And because it is not a family gathering without family drama, I had loads and loads of drama. I think I had enough for a year, or five years even. That makes me very wary paranoid of family gatherings. Being made to feel inadequate by someone who turns out to be a hypocrite -is something that I could definitely do without. Maybe next year I will go hermit.

But not all is dour. My geraniums from Baguio that I thought would never thrive in Manila actually bloomed quite a lot even after subjecting it to stress due to travelling! -It adapted well to the warmer climate.

My "stars and stripes" geranium from Baguio. My bestie Jo also got these.

For now I will be seeking refuge from my tiny patio garden. Till the next post.

our craziest christmas shopping adventure yet

Last Sunday, Kei announced that we are going to Trinoma. He wanted to check out a Ramen restaurant that his brother recommended, and will (finally) go hunting for Christmas stuff for the home.

Before we headed out, I checked about what events are in Trinoma… apparently there is a mall wide sale -nice, because I thought we could go look for some Christmas ornaments,  and Plains & Prints are having a preview of their holiday collection! Of course I wanted to check it out!

Off we go to our first stop.

Their specialty is pork ramen… although I am not that fond of pork, I am pleased with their ramen! as well as their green tea!

true to their slogan, it is indeed happiness in a bowl

We are sure to be back!

Next we wandered off in search for Plains & Prints. We found it easily enough and true to what I saw online there is a preview shopping for their holiday collection!

There were a lot of people inside the store and the fitting room was packed! I saw some dresses that I already saw online. After trying on some dresses. We agreed on one -the Tigerlily dress. It features cap sleeves, a rather structured cut and embroidered lace detail on one side, in a deep red color.

The dress I got. Tigerlily dress.

The dress I got. It has a Cersei Lannister feel to it-not that I am complaining. I am just happy to have it in my size.

I can wear this up to Chinese new year because of the color. While the cashier wraps the dress in the box, Kei jokingly chants “long may she reign” -in reference to game of thrones Cersei Lannister. Such a geek. lols.

I got one red dress. Not bad.

Done with Plains& Prints. Since we are off from a good start, we thought going to find Christmas ornaments would be easy. -We are going for red, aqua and white color theme for our tree.

we are going for this color combination

we are going for this color combination

We looked at TrueValue (they have a sale too) and went out with two boxes of shatterproof ornaments (we got medium sized red and aqua balls) and a string of rice lights.

Next would be looking for the white balls and some smaller red and aqua to add dimension to the tree decor. -Thinking that Landmark Trinoma would have lots of white decor, we trooped to the department store only to find out that there are no more white decor left. Somebody brought all the white decor in bulk. Not one to back down from our chosen color theme, and also to finish our Christmas stuff we thought of going to Landmark Makati. And we really did go.

After a few mins of traffic, we arrived at SM Makati.  And promptly got distracted by one of our favorite store -Crate and Barrel. They are offering 50% off in their Christmas items. They are so thoughtful to offer that! Of course I have to hunt down the Christmas chandelier I wanted.

This was the price before.

Since I really like the chandelier, I took this photo hoping that it goes on sale and I can justify getting one.

Since I really like the chandelier,  I took this photo hoping that it goes on sale and I can justify getting one.

Looks like I got my wish granted. The chandelier’s price went down to below 1k.

Of course I had to have it. But there is a catch. There are only two remaining and both of them are used as store display. Both have their box missing in action. We thought to hell with it, just a box anyway we will just get another box.

So we got it. Along with a tiny white photo frame ornament that has 2015 engraved on it -since 2015 is our wedding year we could place our wedding photo there.

Kei feels right at home with the soft pillows.

Kei feels right at home with the soft pillows.

And we shopped while seated in the “exhibit” area of Crate and Barrel in the middle of the mall. – So much win! Much thanks Crate and Barrel Makati team!

After getting the chandelier we went for a quick grocery shopping and left everything at the package counter. So we can get right back to going to Landmark and getting the white and smaller ornaments.

It was while walking to Landmark that we noticed people running. Confused and a bit worried, we got “adopted” by Octagon and let us stay at their store. Apparently fire broke out in Glorietta 3. Causing panic to a lot of shoppers. After a few mins. We were all let out. This was mission abort-our shopping trip has to stop.

Kei and I calmly walked back to SM Makati, back to Crate&Barrel then to the supermarket package counter to get our stuff and go.

On the way home we stopped by Cash and Carry to have Jollibee for a quick dinner and found a cute striped shirt for Kei- that we got and then we went home.

So yeah. This was by far our craziest shopping trip ever. – I mean we do multiple mall runs on a day but going to multiple malls and having some sort of action drama tops the list.

Hopefully this coming weekend we can complete our tree.

WE got featured & covered

Finally got the time to write! As I have mentioned in my earlier post, I will be writing about the magazine feature.

Way before I got engaged, one of my favorite pastimes would be looking at bridal/wedding magazines or websites. I am just drawn to all the dreamy gowns, beautiful flowers and all that glamour. I feel happy reading love stories of other people, kind of like getting to them better even if I did not know them and I was just reading a magazine.

So after the wedding and right after the photos were sent to us by our photographer, I knew I wanted to submit our story for a chance to get featured at Wedding Essentials Magazine. (This was the magazine that I usually look at.)

Submit I did and I waited, and waited. Then I got a email telling me that we got picked to be featured! (yey!) A few more emails confirmed that we are really in! An anniversary issue at that! (more yey!) Then we got invited to a their event. -It is  a posh bridal fair complete with fashion show. Held at Manila Hotel.

Off we go.

Kei and me at the Wedding Essentials (Tadhana) Bridal fair –I got glammed up and is  wearing custom separeates from Aoui Regala.

We enjoyed watching the (bridal) fashion show, getting to mingle with people, the food… the celebration but nothing compares to this!

Seeing our face on the cover! I can check off being a magazine cover on my bucket list in life. hahaha!

And of course here is the feature.

Happy and grateful to have been one of the couples picked by Wedding Essentials to share our story on their magazine.

We managed to haul quite a few magazines to give to family/friends and our sponsors.

thankful and grateful for this opportunity.

fixing

It has been a while… I am slowly getting back on my schedule. While away from blogging, I managed to do quite a lot really. I helped friends and relatives with their businesses for the upcoming Christmas season. – Made some promotional materials and some packaging stuff. I also had a post nuptial shoot that I have wanted to do for a long time now. It was lucky because it was the day the storm/rain cleared up. –Finally I can have nice outdoor pictures wearing my wedding gown. Once I get the photos I will get them printed to hang at home!!! Mad happy!  I also submitted an article and photos for Wedding Essentials magazine hoping that we could get our wedding featured. –Fast forward to a now… we got featured and also got a cover of our own!  Squee! Will blog about this soon.

I can check off being a magazine cover on my bucket list in life. Hahaha!

On the home front, I won the war with pigeons using tacky useful green plastic netting. No more pigeon poop on my patio! The downside however is that, there is less sunlight that enters the patio = darker inside the house and it is still unsightly even if it is efficient. But I can live with that.

this is the answer

this is our answer to the invading pigeons

Funko pop collecting is on a standstill right now, since we have a lot of events lined up until Christmas all of our excesses goes straight to buying gifts/getting clothes/or becoming an angpao. Such is the life of a new auntie. Hahahaha! (I kind of feel old.) Will hopefully write soon.

shitty ghost month

Any idea about the hungry ghost festival that some hardcore Chinese people are into believing? I usually ignore far fetched superstitions like that but this year, this year was particularly shitty!

1.) Because this month alone I got hacked and lost money in the process. –I lost 5.5k. Had to go report everything, pay replacement stuff, fill up paper upon paper and reports and whatever, nobody cares. fml. There goes my social life fund. Just when I thought I can splurge and see my friends…

not cool

not cool

2.) Next, I ordered a bag for my cousin and ended up having to endure stress for four days because the online seller lied about sending the item and also the estimated arrival –I was so anxious to get the item before my (other) cousin goes to the US. It was going to be hand carried to the US.  Making me worry that I have to send it internationally! The bag cost cheaper than the international shipping rate. So it will not be worth it… I wanted to wring the seller’s neck! She even had the gall to say that she reserves the right not to answer to any calls and that she is not a scammer. All the while this shit was happening while I was…

the bag in question

the bag in question

3.) Sick –this time it was a happy combination of flu, colds and cough with dysmenorrhea thrown in just for fun. And because I am sick I thought I would sterilize my retainers…I ended up shrinking them –I cannot wear them (wounded gums!!!) and had to get new ones made. Fml.

my kind of drugs

my kind of drugs

4.) Retainers -Dentist is away. Fml again.

I accidentally shrunk mine

I accidentally shrunk mine

5.) DIY fail –Never again Krylon! After having all these shitty things happening, I thought to just stay at home and just go craft something to keep me busy. I got a house shaped frame on sale and thought that we could spray paint it to match our color. We grabbed a can of krylon thinking it would do the trick, It ended up a lumpy uneven mess that we tried to sand and spray again and again. To think that brand was the most expensive spray paint can we got. Maximum failure.

never again!!!

never again!!!

The only thing that consoles me is that today is the last day of the shitty ghost month. Arrrggghhh!

The brothers of Asgard: pop Friday

As I was saying, I am going to feature pops sent to me by my cousin Jacky. Today, we reunite the Asgard brothers: Loki and Thor. We had Thor (it’s a gift we got long ago– we lost its box so I cannot do a review of it) for quite some time now, and finally we now have Loki!

We did not go wrong when we asked for Loki. He is quite a looker!

Still on the box, I could make out that Loki is pretty much a detailed pop. See for yourself.

still inside the box, but not for long

Inside the box (the red background) they have an advertisement for Marvel Corps, while I was not planning on subscribing (here in the Philippines we have a pre-order thing going on that works for me since I just get what I like.), I still kept the card.

looking super!

Out of the box, I can see that Loki is very much detailed and I like the metallic sheen of the paint they used on his clothes. The pleats and details on his clothes are also good, but the best feature is Loki’s helmet, really iconic with the curved horns.

Giving Loki the sword of chaos (of course I know the name of the sword! Who am I kidding, I googled it up.) is also a nice touch. Here is the full turn of the pop.

I am actually liking this pop more than the Thor pop. *but please do not tell Thor I said that.* I also noticed that Loki is also a wee bit shorter than Thor. So it looks accurate from the Marvel movies. Overall I am pretty happy with this pair.

So that it for my pop Friday. Till the next!

Enjoy the (long) weekend!
